Course description

On this course, you’ll gain essential skills, knowledge and experience about all aspects of working in the Health and Social Care sector.

This course is for those seeking a career as a:

  • Care worker
  • Nursing assistant
  • SEN (special educational needs) assistant

This is a portfolio based 4 unit course in Health and Social care for children and young people establishments although we do look at care provisions for adults too.

But that’s not all. Maths and English qualifications are also included so you’ll pick up vital skills for your CV, making you even more employable.

Course content

This course provides practical learning and hands on experience in:

  • Health and Safety
  • Communication skills
  • Person centred approach
  • Moving and handling techniques
  • Principles of personal development
  • Duty of care and the role of a Social Care Worker
  • Information handling in a social care environment
  • Diversity, equality and inclusion in Health& Social care

Entry requirements

Must be 16 to 19 years of age and not in Education, Employment or Training

Future opportunities

Once you have completed your level 1 vocational qualification and depending on your level of English & maths achievement, we will work with you to find a suitable progression route using the skills guidance. Apprenticeships, college for higher level learning and employment with training are all options.
