IT Level 2 Extended Certificate at Central Foundation Girls' School

Course description

This course is suitable for you if you want to gain fundamental knowledge and skills in computing from which you can progress to broader or more specialist study at Level 3. This qualification also develops essential employability skills of cognitive and problem-solving, intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.

This course is particularly suitable for you, if you are preparing for employment in IT since the course will help you to acquire the essential knowledge and tools for the world of work by developing transferable skills such as planning, research and analysis, working with others and effective communication.

Course content

You will be studying 2 mandatory units:
- Communicating in the IT industry
- Working in the IT industry and 2 optional units which can be chosen from a list of 28 additional units.

Entry requirements

3 in En and Ma PLUS
Successful completion of transition tasks

Assessment

You will be completing 4 units of work – 2 mandatory and 2 optional. Each of these units will be internally assessed and externally moderated by the OCR visiting moderators.

Future opportunities

After the course you could progress onto employment since the course provides you with the essential knowledge and tools for the world of work

If you choose to continue in the 6th Form / Further Education, you could progress onto various Level 3 courses for a more specialist study. These courses include both BTEC and A Level courses in various subjects. You could continue into Further Education and study additional units for a Diploma in IT. This allows you to complete only the additional units required to complete the next qualification in the suite.
