Plumbing (Heating and Water) Apprenticeship Level 3 at Isle of Wight College

Course description

This course is for anyone currently employed as a Plumber who is looking to move onto a Heating and Water pathway. The course includes both theory and practical skills which are put into practice in the workplace.

You MUST have the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Plumbing or relevant industry experience before you can progress to the Advanced Apprenticeship.

Course content

The Advanced Apprenticeship Framework in Plumbing: Heating and Water will give you the skills and knowledge that you will need to build a career as a Heating and Water Installer.

The Advanced Apprenticeship Framework includes the following:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing: Heating and Water
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Numeracy and Literacy and IT
  • ERR (Employment Rights and Responsibilities)
  • PLTS (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills)

Entry requirements

C and above in Maths and English or equivalent or ability to gain Level 2 Functional Skills.

Assessment

You will attend The Isle of Wight College on a day release, one day per week for the underpinning knowledge and some practical input. You will also be assessed approx every 4-6 weeks in the workplace by a member of our team

Future opportunities

Once you complete this qualification you can apply for the Gas Safe accreditation.

Many employers will tend to keep their Apprentices on after they complete their Apprenticeship but permanent employment is not guaranteed after learners complete their apprenticeship and you will be fully qualified so could become self employed.
