Art & Design BTEC Level 2 First Diploma at Chelmsford College

Course description

It is a practical, work-related course.

Course content

You learn by completing projects and assignments in 3D, graphic design, fine art and textiles/fashion. The course is made up of 8 units - 6 core units and 2 specialist units.

Topics covered include 3D - ceramics and sculpture, fine art, painting and print making, textiles/fashion - printing fabric and garment making.

Teaching takes place in specialised rooms fully equipped with industrial sewing machines, printing facilities, high-end Macs and PC's and the complete CS6 program suite including Photoshop.

You will be given the opportunity to visit galleries and exhibitions to provide further opportunities for inspiration and ideas.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements:

A minimum of 2 GCSEs grade D or above or successful achievement at a Level 1 vocational course.

 

Specific Entry Requirements:

A portfolio of artwork is essential at interview.

Assessment

Internally assessed coursework plus externally assessed examinations.

Future opportunities

A BTEC Level 2 Diploma prepares you for employment or an Apprenticeship, and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as a BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma.

      The campus also houses a Learning Centre, Skills Development Centre, Assessment Centre, Tutorial Centre, a Copyshop and Refectory. Situated on the grounds of this campus are Dovedale Nursery and Dovedale Sports Centre.
