Course description

Drama and Theatre Studies integrates theory and practice, offering a range of opportunities to develop drama and theatre skills creatively and imaginatively.

Course content

AS Level (year one)

Unit One

Unit One involves the exploration and study of two contrasting play texts. You will produce practical and written coursework on each play. You will also visit the theatre and write an evaluation of a live performance.

Unit Two

In Unit Two you will be involved as an actor or a designer in a full-scale group production. You will also produce either a monologue or a duologue.

Entry requirements

• Grade B or above in GCSE English • Grade B or above in GCSE Drama or Performing/Expressive Arts (if you have not had the opportunity to take these to GCSE you should have had experience of performing in school plays or elsewhere) • A willingness to participate in practical Drama work • A commitment to out-of-hours rehearsals • A real passion for Drama
