Course description

Why choose Media Studies?

With a qualification in Media Studies students can go on to Higher Education or work in the media or a related field, such as advertising, gaming, journalism, marketing, web design, public relations, teaching and a range of people-orientated/ communications careers.

What does the course involve?

The course offers an opportunity for students to experience the world in which we live through the eyes of the media.

Investigating the three media platforms - broadcasting, e-media and print - students are provided with a range of media skills to enable a smooth progression to higher levels of study or a professional career in the media.

Students will learn to understand media concepts, texts and platforms and to develop their own practical production skills. They will learn to be critical of media bias and public consumption and of the methods used to create media in all its forms. The course is flexible and enjoyable and offers students a learning environment in which they can really thrive.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade B or above in English Language.
