Plumbing Level 2 at Warrington & Vale Royal College
If you have successfully completed the Level 1 Diploma plumbing course then this is the natural progression route. If you have also achieved C’s in Maths and English GCSE then you will be eligible to start on the Level 2 course.
There are ten theory topics within this qualification which include; Health and Safety, site preparation, hot and cold water, central heating, above ground drainage, science principals, environmental awareness and the structure of the building industry.
If you have successfully completed the Level 1 plumbing course and if you have achieved C’s in both Maths and English GCSE you will be eligible to start on the Level 2 course.
You will be assessed in the workshop in numerous practical assessments and you will be required to pass ten online assessments based on each individual subject unit.
You will need to purchase appropriate footwear to wear during practical sessions. Rigger boots are not allowed.
You will be required to possess suitable writing equipment incuding; pens, paper, folders and a calculator.
You will also need the Plumbing Level 2 text book for which the approximate cost is £30 for a new copy.
A CSCS Card would be required if you participate on work placements at a cost of £30.
You may wish to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing with the possibility of converting your Level 2 into an NVQ if employment within the industry is gained.
Will I complete work placements?
The college is committed to ensuring that all students benefit from the opportunity to undertake work placement whilst at college. We will support you to obtain a placement in a relevant vocational setting.
Are trips and residentials organised during the course?
Educational visits are a useful part of any programme. We look favourably on a variety of visits, all of which enhance the learning process.
Are there any links with industry?
The college is continually developing and reinforcing links with industry to promote work placement opportunities. A variety of guest speakers from industry are invited to speak to students during the course of the year.
