Course description

Studying Latin at A Level unlocks the contemporary relevance of the Roman world in our modern times. It develops key analytical and evaluative skills which improve academic performance in other subject areas and which set students apart from their peers. The A Level Latin course is a two-year programme of study which develops the skills required to read authors such as Cicero, Virgil, Livy and Ovid in the original language, to translate from English into Latin and to analyse grammar. The course is linear, with examinations at the end of the two years. During the course, students may also have opportunities to visit Roman sites in the UK and abroad.
