Animal Management (Level 3) - Applied Science at Askham Bryan College
This course has been designed to focus on the underpinning sciences associated with animal management.
This pathway specialises in learning about animal health and well-being along with animal biology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology. It covers a range of skills needed to care for, handle and manage a variety of animals.
Level 3 Study Programmes:
4 GCSEs at grade 4 (old GCSE grade C) or above to include 2 from English, Maths and Science with at least a grade 3 (old GCSE grade D) in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable Level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English, Maths and Science at Level 2
It’s recommended that alongside the normal entry requirements that students have at least one GCSE in a science related topic at grade C or above for this course.
Your timetable will include a mixture of practical work and classroom (theory) sessions. Vocational programmes are normally assessed through a variation of programme assignments, practical assessment and formal time constrained assessments/examinations.

Further study: Higher Education qualifications such as degrees in related subjects (including animal management, animal science or veterinary nursing). The science content of this programme may also make it possible for you to progress to study veterinary science.
Careers: Positions such as research assistant, animal technician, animal welfare and health officer, veterinary nurse, animal nutritionist or laboratory technician.
