Sociology at Hanham Woods Academy

Course description

Sociology at AS/A2 Level is recognised by all institutions of Higher Education and can be pursued at degree level either as a single subject or in conjunction with other subjects. It is also a good foundation for the study of Humanities subjects such as History, Geography or Social Science subjects such as Psychology and Economics.

It also compliments Science based subjects especially Biology and through the application of scientific based research methods. Sociology is recognised by employers who value both its content and methodology and is invaluable for anyone entering teaching, social work, the medical profession, police force or any job where interpersonal skills and the ability to research, analyse and interpret statistical information is important.

Entry requirements

A good standard of written English: minimum B at GCSE Grade B in Science An awareness of and interest in contemporary issues
