Health and Social Care OCR Level 3 at Copleston High School

Course description

The OCR course comprises of 3 units, two of which are coursework = 66% and a final
examination 33% . Coursework Assessments are internally marked and externally moderated.

Course content

Students are encouraged to take up a Vocational placement in either a Health, Social Care or Early Years setting, to support the understanding and underpinning of knowledge. The first unit, Communication in Care settings, enables students to apply Communication Skills in a setting and relate to theories of communication. The second unit, Promoting Good Health, focuses on investigating current National Campaigns. This involves designing and delivering a Health Campaign to a selected client group. Finally, the examination element focuses on Promoting Quality Care which involves researching and applying challenging issues related to how Health, Social Care and Early Years Services apply quality care in their organisations.

Entry requirements

4 AS levels – at least 5 grade Bs or equivalent in different GCSEs or other Level 2 courses. 3 AS levels – at least 5 grade Cs or equivalent in different GCSEs or other Level 2 courses. In addition, at least a B grade in English and Mathematics. In addition, at least grade C in English Language.

Future opportunities

Careers in Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Occupational Therapy, Teaching, Social work and Early Years Education. A wide range of career routes that can support clients form a broad service base.
