Geography at Retford Oaks Academy

Course description

This exciting and popular course looks at a range of relevant geographical issues as well as developing many essential transferable skills. Students will be assessed in many different ways, will build on knowledge from KS4 and will have several opportunities for fieldwork including residential trips.

2 Units at 'AS' level, including:

Unit 1: Students will study topics on rivers, energy, cold environments and population.

Unit 2: Students are examined on their fieldwork and geographical skills.

2 Units at 'A2' level, including:

Unit 3: Involves the study of plate tectonics, world cities, development, weather and climate.

Unit 4: Is a write up of fieldwork which has been undertaken and geographical skills

Entry requirements

AS': At least grade C in GCSE English (Geography not essential) 'A2': At least grade D in 'AS' Geography
