Art and Design Level 2 Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

If you want to pursue a career in the creative arts then this is an excellent place to start. This course will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress through the levels of art and design, fashion or photography. You will begin by developing some new practical skills and techniques and then be able to specialise in your chosen pathway.
Upon successful completion you will be able to progress onto courses such as our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design or specialist courses such as: Graphics; Fashion; 3D Design; Photography or Media.
During this course, you will study the following units, dependent on your chosen pathway:
Art and Design includes drawing; painting; making 3D work; computer work and designing ideas.
Fashion includes: drawing; cutting patterns; construction and surface pattern techniques; sewing techniques and working with fabrics.
Photography includes: an introduction to digital and film photography; working in a photography studio and darkroom; photography using computers.


Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSE’s including an Art of Design related subject (minimum Grade D) not including Expressive Arts, or a Level 1 qualification in an Art related subject. 
You will be required to attend an interview, where you will be required to show your art and design ability in a portfolio of artwork. You are also required to provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).


Assessment is a combination of individual meetings and formal assessments, where work is submitted for grading.
