Accounting A-Level at Barrow-in-Furness Sixth Form College

Course description

You’ll be confident handling arithmetic, able to work accurately and interested in the techniques used to analyse finances and make financial decisions, both in personal finance and in businesses of all sizes.

Many accounting students go on to study numerate or business related degrees, with a view to being able one day to run their own business or work professionally in a financially related field such as banking, accountancy, financial services and aspects of law.

A level accounting gives a thorough grounding in financial accounting and bookkeeping and goes on to develop some of the ways in which accounting can provide valuable information for the management and monitoring of business performance and effective decisionmaking, especially when planning future operations. The course goes on to study limited companies and the structure and importance of published accounts. Cash flow and international accounting standards are included.

You will be taught through a mixture of classroom based lessons and hands-on practice that will develop your accounting skills. You will use supported self-study tools to develop your competence as an independent learner.
