Practical Youth Work Skills Entry 3 at Coleg y Cymoedd

Course description

If you have particular needs, want to challenge yourself, discover your potential and gain practical experience, skills and qualifications, then this course could help.

Course content

This is a one-year course you will develop your understanding of the requirements of the work place through studying a variety of work related subjects including making and selling your own product. You will build confidence and an ability to work in a team by taking part in fund-raising activities and organising events. You will have the opportunity to become more independent, learn new life skills and plan some of your own work.

Additional qualifications include the Essential Skills Wales in Communications and Numeracy, Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.

Entry requirements

You must be working towards Entry Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy.

You will be invited to attend an interview and undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.


You will be assessed in a variety of ways. Some subjects are assessed by collecting your work together into a portfolio. You will complete assignments for literacy and numeracy and the Duke of Edinburgh, and a log book of what you have achieved.
