History A2 Level at The Astley Cooper School

Course description

A2 Level: Unit 3: The United States, 1917-54: Boom, Bust and Recovery. Unit 4: Twentieth Century International Relations, 1879 – 1980 (coursework). How is the course examined or assessed? Unit 3 is assessed with an examination. You are also required to complete coursework for unit 4, which comprises of 25% of your final grade at A2 level.

You will learn to develop your skills of analysis and evaluation. You will be able to develop and sustain arguments which are supported by evidence. Many who have studied History have gone on to have successful careers in the following areas: - Teaching - The Police and legal professions - Working for government - Journalism and the Media - Accountancy - IT - Managers and directors for large companies and businesses - Archaeology You will follow this course with two or three other As/A2 levels or an Advanced Diploma and, additionally, the compulsory core such as PSHE, RE, PE/Games.
