Caring for Children - Entry Level at Skills for Growth
Duration: by negotiation with provider. Description The aim of the qualification is to provide individuals with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed to care for children. The units within this qualification will give learners an introduction to caring for their children. Components There are a wide range of units to choose from that will be provide an introduction to the key activities and responsibilities involved in caring for children such as Communication between children aged 0-3 years and adults, Communication skills with children, Respecting Children etc. Assessment Assessment for this qualification is portfolio based. Each unit has a credit value and in order to achieve the City & Guilds Entry Level Award in Caring for Children, the student must achieve 6 credits. 4 credits must be achieved at Entry Level.
Interview to be carried out by Skills for Growth’s vocational team. Interview to take place with young person and attended by parents/guardians as evidence that the parents or guardians support the pupil’s choice.
Level 1 Certificate in Caring for Children followed by the Level 2 Certificate and NVQ in Children's Care, Learning and Development or the Level 2 Award in Work with Parents or the apprenticeships at Level 2 in Children's Care, Learning and Development. Progression from this qualification may also lead to supported employment.
