BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Performing Arts - Acting at Kingston College

Course description

The course covers all aspects of actor training. You will study a range of acting techniques from Stanislavski and Brecht to movement and voice, as well as skills for working on TV and Film. This is a practical course that is underpinned with theory and business skills. You will have the opportunity to become fully involved in the process of performance from directing and writing to critical evaluation.

Elements of this course aim to prepare you for film, television and radio work, as well as live theatre. The 90 Credit qualification is a core skills one year full-time course and is equivalent to 1.5 A-levels. The natural progression on successful completion is into a second year for completion of a full Extended Diploma onto either a Musical Theatre or Acting pathway; the Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A-levels. Some mature students however may choose to progress from the 90 Credit one year course directly into employment or alternative training.

The College has two fully equipped theatres: the ACT (Arthur Cotterell Theatre) and Studio 101, together with a TV studio and access to costume and make-up facilities. You will also benefit from being involved with the films and videos made by our students following the Media courses.
