Maths: Quantitative Methods (Level 3) at Shaftesbury School

Course description

This is a practical mathematics course to help all students with their mathematical needs in other subjects, as well as for employment and everyday life. It is designed for Post 16 students who have achieved grade C or better at GCSE Maths and don’t want to take the subject at A Level but do use maths in other subjects such as Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computing, Economics, Geography, BTEC Applied Science. BTEC Applied IT or Psychology.The course covers finance, statistics, working with exponentials, graphs and risk. Students will be encouraged to tackle problems in real or realistic contexts, using tools such as a spreadsheet where appropriate , and to see how maths is relevant to their other subjects.This OCR qualification is fully resourced and supported by MEI (Mathematics in Education and Industry)

Entry requirements

General entry requirement for Level 3 is 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C incl. English Language and Maths. Subject specific entry requirements: Grade C or above in Maths.
