Hairdressing (Women's) Diploma Level 2 at Knole Academy

Course description

The Level 2 Technical Certificates aim to provide you with a range of specialist

foundation skills and technical knowledge that will equip you to seek employment

or further training within the hairdressing industry.

The Level 2 is a two year course consisiting of two qualifications, the Technical Certificate in Cutting and Styling and the Technical Certificate in Colouring.

If the student  already has significant experience of the hairdressing industry, they

may be entered for the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Hairdressing (6002-21) 450GLH, a one year course. This decision will be made by the Subject Leader,

as applicable.


 

Course content

For the Level 2 Technical Certificate for Cutting and Styling the teaching programme must cover the content detailed in the structure below:

For the Level 2 Technical Certificate for Hair colouring Services, the teaching

Entry requirements

Suitable applicants will be interviewed to assess their interest/passion for hairdressing.

They must be of smart appearence and have good  interpersonal skills. A Level 1

qualification in hairdressing beauty therapy or a minimum of 3 GCSEs A*-C are required

for entry on to this course. The minimum 3 A*- Cs are expected to be in the following subjects : Maths, English, Science, Computer Science/IT or Art and Design subjects.

 

Assessment

To achieve the Level 2 Certificate for Cutting and Styling Services candidates must

successfully complete the mandatory assesment components.

To achieve the Level 2 Technical Certificate for Hair Colouring Services,

candidates must successfully complete both the mandatory assessment components as well as the optional assessment components for their chosen optional units.

In all cases, participating industry practioners and emplouers must be relevant

to the industry sector and occupation/occupaion group to which the qualification

relates.

  • Students undertake structured work experience or work - placements that develop skills and knowledge revelant to the qualification.

 

  • Students undertake project(s), exercise(s) and /or assessment(s)

            examination(s)set with input from industry practitioner(s).

 

  • Students take one or more units delivered or co-delivered by an industry practitioner(s). This could take the form of master classes or guest lectures.

 

  • Industry practioners operate as `expert witnesses that contribute to the assesment of a student`s work or practice, operating within a specified assessment framework. This may be a specific projects(s),

            exercise(s) or examination(s), or all assesments for a qualification.
