Vehicle Fitting Principles Level 2 Diploma at Highbury College

Course description

This programme is suitable for those with a keen interest in motor vehicle engineering who have completed a Level 1 Fast Fit award, or similar qualification.

This qualification has been designed primarily for candidates who are 14-19 years old or above and who wish to develop their knowledge of the motor industry.

Course content

The programme consists of seven units including: Health and Safety, Working Relationships, Foundation Skills and Operating Principles of most systems.

You will carry out assessed workshop tasks and classroom sessions to develop your underpinning knowledge.

As part of your programme you will also complete Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT at the correct level for your programme.

You may also complete the wider key skills: Working With Others and Improving Own Learning & Performance.

Entry requirements

You will need to have successfully completed the Level 1 Certificate in order to gain progression to the Level 2 Diploma or are likely to achieve GCSE Grades A-C in English, Maths and Science (subject to interview by lecturers).


You will be assessed by written question papers, oral questioning, small assignments and online assessments with the IMIAL.

You will develop your skills through a mixture of lessons, demonstrations, assignments and practical tasks in the College's industry-standard automotive workshops and classrooms.

To successfully achieve you must complete all units in the qualification, including all assessments (practical and theory) to a satisfactory level. Maximum attendance is required.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma, you could progress to a Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, in which you will learn about routine maintenance and non-complex fault diagnosis.
