Business and Enterprise BTEC Level 3 at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

The UK has a diverse economy supported by small, medium and large businesses. Business activity includes a wide range of opportunities in fields such as manufacturing, retailing and a host of service sector industries. People working in business may be involved in anything from fashion merchandising to digital marketing. Whatever career path you follow in business, the knowledge, skills and attitudes you will develop as part of the Level 3 Business and Enterprise course will be a vital springboard for your future success.

Course content

You will study 18 units over 2 years covering areas such as: • The Business Environment • Business Resources • Marketing • Communication • Accounting • Human Resource Management You will also be members of the LMC Enterprise and Leadership Academy taking part in challenging activities and competitions to develop your entrepreneurial and leadership skills. Past students won the Northwest Entrepreneur Live 2012 competition beating other College and Sixth Form groups across the northwest. Current students have participated in the Global Entrepreneurship Week and the BASE accounting competition.

All students will receive tutorial support designed to assist them with completing the course successfully and identifying future career options. Further support is available through our experienced learning mentors. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English and maths OR a Level 2 related qualification. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager. 

Assessment

This course is continuously assessed using coursework, essays, case studies, group tasks and presentations. 

Financial information

There will be visits to local businesses and Universities during your course and there is an anticipated cost of £80.00 per year for this.

Future opportunities

Following successful completion of this course you can continue your studies, for example by taking an HND in Business, pursuing a wide range of business related degrees at university or by selecting one of the advanced apprenticeships available. 

Further information

On completion of this course you will receive BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business. This is nationally recognised by employers and Higher Education and is equivalent to three A Levels.
