German A level at Hills Road Sixth Form College

Course description

Gain an in-depth knowledge of German culture and learn to speak the language fluently.

Why choose German?

If you dream of speaking a foreign language fluently and impressively and perhaps even working abroad, studying German will bring this ambition within your grasp and it will equip you with a variety of unique skills that will be invaluable in the future. You will become a more knowledgeable and informed person and debates and discussions in the classroom will give you a broad perspective on a wide range of issues and topics. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of the culture and contemporary society of Germany. Topics will include social issues and trends, as well as the opportunity to explore cultural themes through film or literature. There are native Foreign Language Assistants working in the Modern Languages department who are available to help and support you with small group conversation work. There will be the opportunity for you to take part in a work-experience exchange to Hamburg and there is also a German Society which is run by students.

"The Hamburg exchange was a great opportunity to improve my German in a work environment, as well as learning more about German culture." Sam Fitzgerald
