Course content

This course gives a basic introduction to working in a hairdressing salon. Topics covered include: · Reception Work · Health & Safety · Team Work · Shampoo, Condition and Dry Hair · Contribute to Perming and Colouring Processes · Personal and Professional Development

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade E including English

Assessment

Formal end of unit examinations that are set by the awarding body. Continual assessments are carried out throughout the course. You will be required to complete projects throughout the course.

Future opportunities

On completion of Level 1 you may apply for NVQ Hairdressing Level 2, or you may wish to gain employment in a salon.

Further information

A professional dress code is required. You will require a black overall and sensible full shoes. You will have to purchase a hairdressing kit. A camera needs to be available for photographic evidence and a file for your portfolio. You will be required to provide models for assessment.
