Engineering BTEC Diploma at Havering Sixth Form College

Course description

This is an ideal choice for students planning to progress to an engineering degree or an engineering apprenticeship. Course units cover mechanical and electronics engineering, including practical and theory work. Projects include a design engineering project working with a brief from an engineering/manufacturing company and a sports car engineering project working on elements of the chassis, interior and bodywork.

Course content

Course projects include:-

  • A design engineering project working with a brief from an engineering / manufacturing company
  • A Sports car engineering and project working on a various elements of the chassis, interior and bodywork
  • A CAD / CAM project using CNC Milling, turning and multiple 3D printing and scanning techniques

Entry requirements

One grade B and four grade Cs at GCSE, C Grade English GCSE, B Grade GCSE Maths, CC Grade GCSE Science.

Compulsory Cost

£40 - A charge for basic materials for manufacturing, fabrication and electronics.

Future opportunities

Students would normally progress to the Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) at University or an engineering apprenticeship at companies and utilities including Ford Motor Company, London Underground, and the National Grid.
