Hairdressing Intermediate Apprenticeship - Level 2 at John Ruskin College

Course description

As a Hairdressing Apprentice you will be working towards the role of a junior stylist. Areas you will be trained on would include how to give advice and consult with clients, style and finish hair, cut hair using basic techniques, shampoo, condition and treat hair and scalp

Course content

You will attend college one day a week in term time and the remaining time you will be working for your employer. You will also be visited and assessed in the workplace.

Entry requirements

You need 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including Maths and English. You will need to be in full time employment.


You will have a dedicated Trainer/Assessor who you can contact at any time. They will visit you in the workplace at least every 8 weeks to carry out a progress review with you and your employer.

Financial information

If you are aged 16 to 18 when you start your Apprenticeship Programme, there is no charge to you or your employer as this is fully funded by the government.

Other costs would include the purchase of your personal kit and uniform and any working resources.

Future opportunities

When you have achieved your Intermediate Apprenticeship framework you may be able to progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3).
