City & Guilds – NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Barbering – Intermediate Apprenticeship at Shears Academy of Hairdressing

Course description

If you are 16 – 18 with a passion for the barbering or hair, this is the very best way to enter the industry, and you earn whilst you learn!
During your Apprenticeship you will be paid the National Minimum apprenticeship wage, or more, and on successful completion will have gained transferable skills such as Personal Learning and Thinking Skills, Employment rights and responsibilities, Functional Maths and English Skills as well as hairdressing experience and an internationally recognised qualification – all of which are exactly the skills employers seek!

One session per week: Tuesdays at 4.30pm plus a minimum of 28 hours a week in a Barbers or Gentlemen's Grooming salon.

 

Our Apprenticeship in Barbering includes 9 units (4 of which are specific barbering techniques):

GB3 – Cut hair using barbering techniques
GB4 – Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques
GB5 – Dry and finish men's hair
AH21 – Create basic patterns in hair


5 further units must be achieved (which can be accredited from prior learning if you hold Level 2 or higher NVQ in hairdressing at current standards.

G20 – Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
G7 – Advise and consult with clients
GH8 - Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
G4 - Fulfil salon reception duties
G17 - Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation

Entry requirements

Personal interview, employed by a barbers or Gentlemen's grooming salon - don't worry if you do not have a job right now as we can support you to in finding employment.
