IT Cambridge Technicals at The Warren School

Course description

IT is at the heart of everyday life, at work, home and in our leisure time: from computer graphics and control systems, to communications and problem solving, IT has an ever-increasing role to play. The Cambridge Technicals in IT draw this together through a wide range of units such as installing hardware, creating a website, identifying an IT fault, computer animation and e-commerce. It’s an ideal foundation for students entering the workplace, The Cambridge Technicals in IT provide students with a theoretical background reinforced with practical skills that transfer into the modern workplace.

Course content

You will be completing six units, which are all 100% coursework. These will be the following: Communication and employability skills for IT, Information systems, Website production, Spreadsheet modelling, Digital Graphics, Business Resources

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for students who want to study in preparation for employment in IT; wish to gain a Level 3 qualification to support further study in Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) in IT; wish to gain a Level 3 qualification to support further study in FE or HE in any other sector or subject area. Five A* – C grades in GCSE including a B grade in English

Assessment

There are six units to be completed, which internally assessed and externally moderated. This is a 100% coursework qualification.

Future opportunities

This course is suitable for students who want to study in preparation for employment in IT. Equally, it is suitable for candidates intending to pursue careers or further study in ICT or computer science, or as part of a course of general education.
