Course description

Computing is a fast growing sector in Leeds. This level 3 course equips you with the skills in areas that are fast becoming essential in the computing industry. Modules include Virtualisation, System Security and Encryption.

Sample both Computer Science and Networking, and Software Development. You should then be able to specialise in either of these disciplines in your second year when you progress on to the appropriate Level 3 Diploma course.

You could progress to university to study or into employment in any of these specialisms: computing, computer forensics, computer systems, networking or business and IT.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at Grade C (grade 4 or above); to include either English Language and Mathematics at Grade C.

You will also undertake an application interview, this is nothing to worry about, it is only to determine whether you are suitable for this particular course.

You will be placed on the course that matches your qualifications at enrolment.

Assessment

Assessment for this course is four external exams and tutor assessed assignments. Support and guidance for each module will be given by your tutor and the Computer Science department.

Future opportunities

There will also be an option to gain further industry recognised qualifications such as Cisco CC&A, contact us.

On successful completion of the course you may progress to our university courses in Applied Computing, or Networking and Systems Security. Alternatively you could seek a degree in Computing, Computer Forensics, Computer Systems, Networking or Business and IT.

For university entry this Level 3 Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 ‘A’ Levels.

Alternatively you could progress onto an higher level or degree apprenticeship in a relevant area. You could also seek employment with your new found skills within the computing industries.
