Team Leading Apprenticeship at Protocol Skills

Course description

Description: Heading a group of people, no matter what size, requires specific skills from motivating and managing a team to communicating and decision making. It is a critical skill in most professions contributing significantly to the performance of the business.

The Team Leading Apprenticeship is dedicated to enhancing the skills of those working as supervisors, managers and team leaders, those working towards a team leading role or those who wish to receive recognition for their team leading experience.

Course content

What does it comprise of?
The vocational qualification is designed for work place learning and provides flexible training through the study of 4 mandatory and 2 optional units. The Team Leading Level 2 NVQ and Apprenticeship incorporate Key Skills and learning about employment rights and responsibilities.

The unit headings are:

Mandatory units
- Manage your own resources
- Provide leadership for your team
- Develop productive working relationships with colleagues
- Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety

2 optional units from
- Encourage innovation in your team
- Allocate and check work in your team
- Provide learning opportunities for colleagues
- Resolve customer service problems
- Support customer service improvements

Technical Certificates
The qualification includes a Technical Certificate in Team Leading.

Each of the units is made up from specific elements applicable to a Team Leader role, for example planning and allocating work to a team, giving feedback and leading team briefings. Assessment takes place through evaluation of workplace performance, presenting evidence, witness testimony and questioning. A portfolio of evidence is produced which demonstrates that the learner can perform to the level described. Participants will all have a Training Assessor who will help assemble the portfolio and prepare for assessment.

Future opportunities

Learners often progress to a management qualification.
