Bench Joinery Level 3 Diploma at Harrogate College

Course description

This course will focus on Bench Joinery, developing the skills from Level 2 to a more advanced level.
You will concentrate on the skills necessary for producing curved and angular work in the manufacture of turning staircases, arched frames, stable doors and kitchen units etc.

Course content

The use of all machinery is incorporated into this course and theory work is based on the design and planning of joinery work.

•  Health & Safety
•  Product design and production techniques
•  Curved and angular working skills
•  Timber technology
•  Workshop procedures, estimating and planning

Entry requirements

GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above, or a willingness to work towards achieving this, or Bench Joinery Level 2 qualification, or relevant work experience.


Assessment takes place throughout the year, with a mix of practical tasks, written test and online multiple choice exams.

Future opportunities

Successful completion will allow students to seek employment in the woodwork industry, progress to an advanced Apprenticeship or continue in building management studies.
