Professional Service Level 1 Certificate at Accrington and Rossendale College

Course description

This is a VRQ Certificate Diploma qualification which is designed to meet the needs of the learners who want to work front of house within a hospitality environment. It is also for learners that want a rounded knowledge of both front of house and kitchen. This will enable them to look at more senior positions in the future and perhaps progress onto the next level of course.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grades D – G (including English and Maths) or an Entry Level 3 as an introduction to the course would be an advantage, as would a keen interest and a commitment to learn. A successful college interview would also be essential.

Assessment

Assessment will be through restaurant practical assessments and written portfolio work.

Financial information

This course is free of charge for 16 – 18 year olds.

This course will cost a maximum of £480 for learners aged 19 years old or above. This fee may be reduced or void depending on the individual’s circumstances.

Future opportunities

By gaining this Level 1 Certificate, demonstrating excellent attendance, and producing merits and distinctions in assignments and practical assessments you could possibly then progress onto the VRQ Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Professional Cookery or secure a job placement and enrol onto a Level 2 Hospitality Apprenticeship.

Further information

The Hospitality and Catering section is housed in the Heartwood Centre in Accrington. The learner will gain a vast amount of work experience and build confidence when working in the Eatery/kitchen. Learners will also have the opportunity to take part in preparation and running of functions.
