Public Services (Uniformed) BTEC Extended Diploma Level 2 at Weston College
This study programme combines both academic study and the development of practical skills and knowledge. You will study a number of different units. The core units are: Government, policies and the public services, citizenship, diversity and the public services, leadership and teamwork in the public services, understanding discipline within the uniformed public services and fitness testing and training for the uniformed public services.
The specialist units are selected by the College and could include:
- International institutions and human rights
- Outdoor and adventurous expeditions
- Skills for land-based outdoor and adventurous activities
- Skills for water-based outdoor and adventurous activities
- Planning and management of major incidents
- Responding to emergency service incidents
- Career planning for the public services.
This qualification will form part of a study programme, which includes exclusive access to the Sports Academy and Enrichment programme, tutorial support, employability and study skills. Maths and English is a fundamental element of this study programme. Skills in Maths and English will be embedded into your academic/ vocational learning. If you do not have a grade C in Maths and/or English you will attend a discrete GCSE or Functional Skills class as part of your weekly timetable.
Four GCSEs Grade D-E and a satisfactory reference.
This qualification is assessed by exams and coursework, which includes projects, assignments, presentations and practical activities.
