Hairdressing Level 2 VTCT at Allerton Grange School

Course description

The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing Services is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your skills in;

The creative skill of dressing women’s hair, the art of creating a hair and beauty image, how to be effective when shampooing and conditioning hair or provide a good consultation service for your clients.

Course content

Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety whilst working in the hair industry. You will also develop an in depth knowledge and understanding of each unit.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own services and assists others.

Upon completion of this Level 2 Certificate, students can progress to higher awards in the following:

Level 3 Award - Creatively styling and dressing hair

Level 3 Award - Bridal hair styling

Level 2 Award – Photographic hair and make up

Level 2 Award - Mendhi design and application

Entry requirements

You should demonstrate an interest, knowledge or formerly acquired skills in hairdressing and wish to further your career in hairdressing

 

Assessment

  • Your practical skills will be assessed, providing hairdressing services in a purpose built hairdressing salon here at Allerton Grange.

  • Externally assessed hard-copy question papers will be set by VTCT, marked by the centre assessor and sampled by VTCT external verifiers.

  • You will also need to submit a portfolio of evidence of your work completed during the course.

  • All aspects of the course will be assessed by the internal verifier to meet VTCT and regulatory requirements. An external verifier, appointed by the VTCT will visit the salon to sample and quality-check the assessments

Financial information

 As a full time student you should not need to pay any course or examination fees (under 19).

There may be a cost for equipment, educational visits, printing etc.

Future opportunities

  • This qualification may lead directly into supervised employment in a salon. It can also provide a good platform for the opportunity of working as a modern apprentice.

  • Additional diploma in hairdressing.

  • You could enter employment in the hairdressing industry which can lead to working as a qualified stylist in a hair salon, on a cruise ship, in a hotel or spa, or as a self-employed mobile hairdresser/salon owner.
