Course description

  • Two well equipped salons in the college help to provide experience and awareness of the industry environment
  • Work experience for one day a week is an integral part of the programme which all students follow to create opportunities for future employment
  • Extra curriculum activities include fashion shows, competitions and industrial events
  • The course is full-time and consists of three days and one evening in college

Course content

This qualification is aimed at developing beauty therapists to become qualified in a variety of treatments including facials, body massage, manicure, pedicure, application and instruction on make-up, eye lash and brow treatments, eyelash perming, skin tanning and waxing. This course leads to further qualifications at level three.

There are no entry requirements.

Assessment

Continual practical observation on clients throughout the programme in a realistic working environment demonstrating treatment planning and performance.

Students are also required to compile a portfolio of evidence including assignments and some written tests.

Future opportunities

The course will give students the opportunity to broaden their employment potential such as being able to work in department stores as beauty consultants, work in beauty salons and as a moblie therapist. This course can lead onto the level three beauty therapy qualification.

    • Pibwrlwyd is a friendly campus in a rural setting on the outskirts of the market town of Carmarthen which is also the commercial centre for a large and thriving area.
