Children’s Care, Learning and Development Level 2 at Coleg y Cymoedd
This course provides you with the high standard of training you need to begin working with children. Time is spent in college and in a number of appropriate work placements in order to gain relevant experience.
You will study a range of units, which include looking at child development from birth to 19 years of age, as well as planning and implementing activities to carry out with children.
During the year, you will have mandatory practical work placement training with children within the relevant age range. In addition to these units, you will study Essential Skills for Work & Life, Communication, Application of Number and the Welsh Baccalaureate.
You will require 4 GCSEs at A*- D, which must include Maths and English/Welsh, or completion of a full relevant vocational programme at Level 1 which must include GCSE Maths and English/Welsh at grades A*-D or equivalent such as Level 1 ESW Communications and Application of Number. Plus satisfactory references
You must have satisfactory clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service. You will be invited to attend an interview and you will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required. Applicants with appropriate experience, who do not necessarily meet the academic qualifications, may be considered.
You will be assessed using a range of methods, both in college and at work placement.
FT Registration Fee - £20.00
After successfully completing this course, you will be able to apply for other CACHE awards or employment in a Childcare and Education supervised capacity, e.g. primary and nursery schools, day nurseries, private homes, playgroups, child-minding, family centres, crèches and in Special Education.
