Hairdressing Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

As an Apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds; you will earn a salary and gain real experience in the workplace with your employer as well as working towards a nationally recognised NVQ and other qualifications. Apprenticeships are suitable for well-motivated people who are focussed and know which career path they want to follow. They offer high quality work-based training as an alternative to full time study. This programme is aimed at people who are employed, or are seeking employment. You will need to be 16 years of age or over. Apprenticeships are available at level 2 and level 3.

Course content

 Employment should be for a minimum of 30 hours per week, with training in the workplace • Assessor visits in the workplace when ready for assessment • Functional Skills in maths and English • Employment Rights and Responsibilities 

Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship covers:

• monitor procedures to safely control work operations • promote services and products • hairdressing consultation • creative cutting • colour hair using a variety of techniques • colour correction • promotional activities (competitions and shows) • creatively style and dress hair • creatively dress long hair • provide creative hair extension services 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English and maths OR a Level 2 related qualification. Relevant work experience will also be considered Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager

Assessment

This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including practical observation, online tests, presentations and the production of a portfolio of work. 

Financial information

Apprenticeship training is currently fully funded; however this is subject to change. You will need to buy a hairdressing kit (£36.00) and tunic & trousers (£47.00).

On completion of this course you will receive Hairdressing NVQ Level 3, ERR and Functional Skills
