PE Corse & GCSE at Prince William School

Course content

Everyone participates in four compulsory lessons of Core Physical Education per fortnight. Sessions are broken down into half-termly blocks. The twelve blocks of work cover the National Curriculum requirements. The aim is to provide students with a very full and varied course of activities.  As well as the core PE lessons, you can opt to do GCSE Physical Education. The syllabus offers students an opportunity to foster enjoyment of physical activity and enables you to develop an understanding of effective and safe physical performance. During the course you are assessed practically on four different sports, which account for 60% of your marks. The theory work is worth 40% of your marks and is assessed by a final examination. The Department makes full use of the Physical Education facilities and equipment, and possesses a range of videos and books to aid teaching. You will be encouraged to use the Internet and other appropriate programmes to greater develop your knowledge and understanding.
