As / A2 Level Psychology at St Michael's Catholic High School

Course description

Aims of the course:
To develop an understanding of mind and behaviour by comparing and critically assessing the theories and investigations of psychologists.

Course content:
The course will cover the main approaches in psychology: biological, behavioural, psychodynamic and cognitive through the study of both theory and application in the form of therapy. The main areas of psychology: social, physiological, cognitive developmental and individual differences will be illustrated and will lead to an understanding of research methods. At A2, controversial issues, topics of interest and applications of psychology will be studied, together with research methods.

Entry requirements

Five Grades A – C at GCSE, and at least grade B in two of the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics or Science.
