Course description

If you’re looking for a career in nursing, social
work, teaching, youth and community or related
careers, this course is for you. The Extended
Diploma is a highly popular course and is an
excellent route to university or into employment
in the health and social care sector. It will give
you the opportunity to progress into a rewarding
and challenging career and will give you
valuable work experience in a setting relevant
to your interests.

Course content

The course includes:

  • personal and professional development in health and social care,
  • health psychology,
  • sociology,
  • developing effective communication in health and social care,
  • caring for children and young people,
  • anatomy and physiology.

You will carry out at least one work placement, which will help you to put what you’ve learned at college into practice.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs with the following grades: English 4 and maths at 3 or above, and 3 other GCSEs grade 4 or above including science subject. You will require a DBS check for this course.
