Uniformed Public Services - Foundation at Eccles Sixth Form College

Course description

This course provides a realistic introduction to working in any of the uniformed public service routes. You will find the course stimulating and varied as it combines classroom-based study with outdoor activity and group work. You will also develop your personal effectiveness, decision making, teamwork, leadership and communication skills

Course content


You will cover a range of topics such as:

Leadership

Team development

Physical preparation and fitness

Outdoor and adventurous activities

Diversity

Public services employment

Entry requirements

E/Fs at GCSE or 1/2s

Assessment

The majority of units are assessed by assignments and projects. Some units are externally assessed by the awarding body and at some levels there is a small unit exam

Financial information

Full time courses are free to 16-18 year olds who are EU citizens

Future opportunities

Progression to Intermediate Level

Many students go into employment within the public services industry. The majority of advanced level students go on to study related degree at university before pursuing careers in the police, fire service or armed services.
