A Level Chemistry at The Boswells School

Course description

Chemistry is an academic subject that covers a vast range of skills and knowledge. It is the study of the composition, properties and behaviour of matter and it is found in every object we can see and touch around us. We follow the OCR Salters course and this encompasses all the main areas of organic, inorganic and physical Chemistry. As well as gaining in depth knowledge of the subject, our students develop a great range of practical skills and improve on their abilities to analyse and interpret the data they produce.

An A-level in Chemistry is a vital qualification to have for a number of careers including Medicine and Pharmacy, but it also opens up possibilities to get into many different professions and it is highly regarded by further education establish

ments.

The AS-level is made up of three modules, two assessed by examinations at the end of year 12 and one by a series of short practical assessed tasks. Year 13 is similar with two more exam-assessed modules and an Individual Investigation coursework task.

One further way we are able to help our students is with a wiki page: boswellsrcd.wikispaces.com Here students are able to access course information and a vast range of revision materials and resources.
