ACCESS - Level 2 Combined Course at Allerton Grange School

Course description

This is a combined course involving a package of qualifications which include:

*Maths - GCSE (AQA)

*English - GCSE (WJEC)

Creative Crafts -

Health and Social Care - BTEC Level 2

Hair & Beauty -

Physical Education -

*Maths & English are available to students wishing to improve their grade to a 4 or above. These subjects need not be taken if you achieve a 4 grade in Year 11.

Course content

This course offers the opportunity to spend a year getting the Level 2 grades needed to progress to a Level 3 course or to start an apprenticeship.

As part of your study programme you will take 5 subjects:

English & Maths GCSE if your grades in these are lower than a 4 and 3 other subjects from the list above.

This is an interesting and varied course which will help you to decide what you want to do after this year.

Entry requirements

Applications are considered on an individual basis but subject areas have their own entry requirements. As a guide you will normally be expected to have achieved a minimum of the following:

For level 3 courses - a good range of GCSEs from grade 4 - 9 including a grade 4 in English and Maths or the equivalent at BTEC level.

Level 2 courses - 2 Grade 3s at GCSE

Specific entry requirements for this course are as follows:

At least 2 grade 3s in your Year 11 courses.

Assessment

There will be some exams and quite a lot of coursework. You will be in school for most of the week, in lessons with a variety of different teachers.

Future opportunities

You will be able to either stay in school and take up a Level 3 (A level equivalent course), or you could chose to do a college course or an apprenticeship
