Photography BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Oaklands College

Course description

The qualification is designed to give learners a technical understanding of Photography. Learners develop knowledge of studio and location photography and digital and traditional methods (wet photography) of photography through vocational projects. You will be given the opportunity to work in a professional darkroom and work on industry standard equipment. The course will also place photography into a wider context through contextual studies where you examine movements and influential photographers. The qualification is for post 16 learners intending to gain employment in this sector, possibly after further study in higher education. You will have the opportunity to enter competitions, work to live briefs and produce group exhibitions. There is an externally assessed brief that will form part of your overall result.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths or a relevant Level 2 qualification and a keen interest in photography. You will be required to attend an interview and to bring some examples of your work with you.

Financial information

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

Future opportunities

You could progress on to a Higher Education programme in a related subject or you may choose to progress directly into employment.
