Photography - BTEC National Subsidiary Diploma at Plume College
This course will appeal to those students with a keen interest in image-making, and in particular students who are willing to apply themselves to the production of a portfolio of images outsideformal study periods.
Students’ work is produced using the conventional techniques of single lens reflex cameras alongwith digital techniques and experimentation with computer-manipulated imagery.
BTEC qualifications focus on the development of practical skills that are needed for industry.Students will learn how to use SLR cameras effectively to produce professional-looking outcomesfor a range of products that may span advertising, film, documentary, book-making, and webbasedwork.
The National Subsidiary Diploma is a two year Level 3 programme and will be delivered as a seriesof assignments covering six units; four core units and two specialist Photography units.The National Subsidiary Diploma is the equivalent of one A-level.
The emphasis in this course is on dynamic and individualistic approaches to image-making and willbe particularly suitable for students who are already enthusiastic about this kind of work. It offersstudents the potential to make a personal response to their own experience, environment andculture.
GCSE grade B in Art and a ‘suitable’ portfolio or Merit in BTEC Media
