Mathematics GCSE at Lord Grey School

Course description

GCSE Mathematics is mandatory for all students who have yet to achieve a grade C in this subject. Regular work on examination papers will take place and lessons will focus on strengthening understanding of key topics; these are the central modes of learning. Extra study is expected from the students outside lesson times.

Assessment

This course will be assessed through examination only. We offer re-sits in November and June, if the candidate is ready. There is no coursework.

Future opportunities

Students who have not achieved a C Grade or above in GCSE Maths and/or English, are legally required to continue with their studies in these subjects at any institution. We offer good support and the pass rates for students going on to get their C Grade at Lord Grey School are higher than national rates. For students on a Level 2 pathway, they will also study literacy and numeracy all year to improve core skills.
