Beauty Therapy Techniques - Level 3 Diploma at Yorkshire Coast College

Course description

The City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Techniques deepens your knowledge of Beauty Therapy techniques and services, and will allow you to progress into a working role as a practicing Beauty Therapist.

In a similar way to the City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma, the Level 3 Diploma continues to develop industry-standard practical skills and experience, supported by up-to-date theoretical knowledge of issues in beauty related industries.

Course content

As part of the Level 3 diploma you will develop more advanced salon techniques, such as a range of massage skills, with the use of facial and body therapy machines. You will also develop knowledge of the skills relating to important areas of study in Beauty Therapy, including health and safety and working with colleagues in the beauty industry.

There are 9 units in the Level 3 Beauty Therapy course that you will study:

  • Working with colleagues within beauty related industries
  • Monitoring and maintaining health and safety practice in the salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty related industries
  • Promoting and selling products and services to clients
  • Providing body massage
  • Providing facial electrotherapy treatments
  • Providing body electrotherapy treatments
  • Providing Indian head massage
  • Applying stone therapy massage

Entry requirements

Level 2 Beauty Therapy, excellent attendance and communication skills.

Future opportunities

After successful competition of the City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Techniques you may wish to progress on to higher education such as a Foundation Degree in Salon Management or you could choose to go straight into employment.

Our region has lots of Spas, Hotels and Salons that are all crying out for your talents, and don’t forget that you could always set up your own mobile business or travel the world as a Therapist on a Cruise Liner, offering treatment to passengers. 

The local average annual wage on entry into a career in Beauty Therapy – depending on qualification – is £ 10,000

      Refectory and Square Cat Café

      Our refectory at Lady Edith's Drive is the perfect place to relax and unwind, whether you want a quick snack, a healthy lunch or just to catch up with friends. Breakfast is served every weekday from 8.30am until 11am, after this a huge choice foods are available including a range of premium sandwiches, pizzas, salads, paninis, and jacket potatoes. Our two campuses each have their own refectories. 

      The Square Cat Café at Westwood is a great place to catch-up with friends. We offer hot and cold drinks and snacks. From time-to-time you might even catch a live performance from performing arts students.

      Our Learner Engagement Team also provide other activities across both sites throughout the year.

      Common Room

      The learner common room on Lady Edith's Campus is located on the ground floor and near the LRC. Here you can relax with your friends and play a game or pool and our Learner Engagement team are always on hand to help you or provide information on a range of activities they are organising. 

      Learning Resource Centre

      We have two interactive Learning Resource Centres across Yorkshire Coast College providing lending, reference and information services and offering you the chance to utilise the latest technologies and study aids. Our Learning Centres are also linked to the British Library, meaning no matter what you need, you will always have access to it. 

      ICT, Moodle & Wifi

      Yorkshire Coast College has a great range of academic facilities for both students and staff. Feel free to check books out from our libraries and use our professional printing services amongst our many other facilities at Yorkshire Coast College.

      Our Repro facility offers both students and the general public, first class business stationery, educational printing as well as a host of photographic and print finishing services, including both black and white and full colour prints.
