Health and Social Care at The Blandford School

Course description

Not only is Health and Social Care an interesting and dynamic subject in its own right it will also provide the knowledge needed for a variety of Health and Social Care careers as well as information for life. Are you interested in:  Health and disease?  Communication?  Learning about Disability?  Caring for people?

Course content

AS Health and Social Care You will study modules which investigate the health and care of patients and service users and include areas such as lifestyle choices and health together with the causes of ill health. The study of effective communication and effective caring will provide you with the necessary knowledge and understanding required. A2 Health and Social Care You will extend your study to look at a range of topics in some depth together with the skills needed to work in the health and care sector.

Entry requirements

Standard entry requirement (5+ A*-C at GCSE inc. English).

Assessment

AS/A2 Assessment Both years are assessed by both coursework and end of unit exams. Coursework accounts for a proportion of the marks.
