Applied Science - Biology at Newmarket Academy
If you have enjoyed studying biology at GCSE but dislike exams, this is an obvious choice for you. The course covers very similar information and detail to the traditional AS/A2 biology course, but is 100% coursework.
The emphasis of this course is on the vocational setting, making the topics relevant to real life. A significant part of this course is based on practical work and applications of the topics to modern society, whilst developing key skills such as numeracy, communication and ICT.

You will need to have achieved at least a double C grade at GCSE science.
Many universities accept BTEC qualifications, so it is a good choice for those wishing to go onto higher education. Career prospects include teaching, research and development, animal husbandry and agriculture.
