•Further develop mathematical skills and their use in more challenging and sometimes less structured problems
•Develop logical reasoning skills
•Use Mathematics as an effective means of communication
•Recognise how situations can be represented mathematically and understand relations between ‘real world’ problems and mathematical models
•Develop an awareness of the relevance of Mathematics to other fields of study.
AS Level Modules
A2 Level Modules
Students are required to achieve a minimum of a high grade B, but preferably a grade A or A* at GCSE.
Assessments are all exam-based, with the AS exams taken at the end of Year 12 and the A2 exams taken at the end of Year 13.
Almost any university course or job values A Level Maths. However, if you wish to study Maths itself at university or apply for Engineering at certain universities you are advised to take both Maths and Further Maths.
